Epic Games releases UT3 Bonus Pack #1

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

And the hotness keeps on coming! I haven’t tried yet, but the map-list has two classics and one new map for the UT3 players—PC and PS3 alike. Maps DM-Morbias and CTF-Face have been seen in previous UTs, but CTF-Searchlight is a new one.

Grab yours from BU FileWorks now! Be warned though, the pack—even with only three maps—weighs at a whopping 160MBs!

Rdegree design — going for the word ‘done’

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Yup, I’ve got the basic layout, graphics, and such done. Some functionality testing, plugin evaluating and styling left. Of course a code clean-up too. But after uploading, it doesn’t mean it’s “done”, I’ll most probably be updating it as time passes, until I get too bored of it. I don’t like giving out exact “release dates”, but let’s hope I’ll get the design uploaded during next week.

Gears of War 2 GDC 2008 HD footage at GameTrailers.com

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

GameTrailers.com has added two “new” GOW2 videos (with SD and HD versions) to view. The first one (view in SD/HD) is a tech-demo video, displaying new things in the so called Unreal Engine 3.5, which is used in future titles. This one’s old, but it’s good to see a HD version of it (gives some more justice to the cool additions Epic Games has made to the engine). The second (view in SD/HD) is a sort of a press announcement of GOW2, with CliffyB getting it on with a Lancer replica. Although GOW2 was said to be a Xbox 360 exclusive released next November, I wonder if they release a PC version after the sales on the console quiet down a bit. Anyways, good stuff. Worth looking.

Community Bonus Pack 3 for UT3

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Some more topnotch mappage in the making by the CBP crew. Version 3 has been announced. Any downloads haven’t been given out yet, but be sure to check their download page from time to time.

The pack will hold at least 3 maps, DM-Salvation, DM-IronMaiden2 and DM-Endura. They’ve said that there will be many more around the time of release.

How to style your latest post in WordPress

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

I’ve seen this question asked all around the place. I searched too, and found the answer on a somewhat hidden forum posts or such. Therefore I’ve made this post for you to use when styling the latest post on your WordPress blog. This will guide to style the latest post on your blog’s index, by modifying the index.php loop a bit. And if you’re in the know of WordPress templates and a little PHP, you should be able to apply this technique to other pages on your blog aswell.

UT3 PS3 patch getting released — at last

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

I’m not a UT3 PS3 player, but here’s some relief for those who are. Jeff ‘WarTourist’ Morris gave a UT3 PS3 patch announcement with a fixlist on the Epic Games forums.

Building the rdegree About page

Friday, March 21st, 2008

I’m bad at telling about myself, or things related to me (unless the amount of alcohol in my blood stream is above a certain amount), so I need some help creating my about page. I was thinking of making it sort of a “Q&A” page, about this blog and me. Without any longer babbling, you can now post questions about me and rdegree to this post (yes, the comment area). Anything is allowed, except the you-know-what things. If the question is good, or a certain question is asked enough, it will be answered on the about page.

The design of rdegree

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

The design is coming along nicely, no worries about that. Just posted to inform everyone that I’ve gotten to the so called coding stage a few days back. This takes a while still, as the WordPress templates and their tags confuse me a bit*. And added to that, I need to style some plugins too. Otherwise things are pretty straightforward.

Thanks for your time.

* I’m trying to make the design work quite damn dynamically, so the use of WordPress templates and tags is needed.

Unreal franchise, now on Steam

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Games from the Unreal franchise have been added to Steam’s gamelists. This means even more players to the somewhat quiet game UT3 and others. Let’s hope it goes well and Epic Games gets some more money for their future projects with Steam.

The games include the original Unreal (Gold), Unreal 2, Unreal Tournament 1 (GOTY), UT2004 (ECE) and UT3. I warmly suggest everyone at least tries the demos. Top notch stuff.

Jumping all over the world

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Scooter has released a new album, “Jumping all over the world.” What I can make out of the style, other than the usual Scooter techno taste, it seems like a mix of jumpstyle and semi-hardstyle, with anthem-style variations. Although the definiton might have some opinion poured in it.
