Red Alert free download, offered by EA Games

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

To celebrate the 13th anniversary of Command & Conquer, EA Games is giving C&C fans a free download of RA1. I for one will be happy to refresh the memories I had with it many years ago. I’m not sure if this is temporary or if it’ll be free of charge to times end.

Happy Alerting everybody, and thanks Westwood (and partly EA) for such a enjoyable franchise!

Epic Games releases UT3 Bonus Pack #1

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

And the hotness keeps on coming! I haven’t tried yet, but the map-list has two classics and one new map for the UT3 players—PC and PS3 alike. Maps DM-Morbias and CTF-Face have been seen in previous UTs, but CTF-Searchlight is a new one.

Grab yours from BU FileWorks now! Be warned though, the pack—even with only three maps—weighs at a whopping 160MBs!

Some more topnotch mappage in the making by the CBP crew. Version 3 has been announced. Any downloads haven’t been given out yet, but be sure to check their download page from time to time.

The pack will hold at least 3 maps, DM-Salvation, DM-IronMaiden2 and DM-Endura. They’ve said that there will be many more around the time of release.

UT3 PS3 patch getting released — at last

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

I’m not a UT3 PS3 player, but here’s some relief for those who are. Jeff ‘WarTourist’ Morris gave a UT3 PS3 patch announcement with a fixlist on the Epic Games forums.

Unreal franchise, now on Steam

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

Games from the Unreal franchise have been added to Steam’s gamelists. This means even more players to the somewhat quiet game UT3 and others. Let’s hope it goes well and Epic Games gets some more money for their future projects with Steam.

The games include the original Unreal (Gold), Unreal 2, Unreal Tournament 1 (GOTY), UT2004 (ECE) and UT3. I warmly suggest everyone at least tries the demos. Top notch stuff.
