School and other major things.

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

I haven’t written anything in a while. In fact, I haven’t done anything constructive in a while, except reading for exams.

I hope to get a design done for the summer holidays, I hope I begin writing more, but even more I hope I someday graduate from high school. I put school and other “real life” things before my blog. Eventhough I love designing and writing the occasional blogpost, I need to work off-blog for a while (which I’ve been doing for the past few weeks).

Sorry to dissappoint you, but expect to see more activity during the summer. In the meanwhile, you can help me build my about page. Thanks.

Rdegree upgraded to WordPress 2.5

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

WordPress banner

Alrighty, rdegree has been upgraded from WordPress 2.3.3 to WordPress 2.5. It went very well. No problems or random hickups so far. And it took around merely 10 minutes—excluding download and upload times with FTP of course.

I like the new interface in the admin panel, although some options and buttons have been moved to quite odd places. I’ve also upgraded my offline version, so I can continue creating the design and keep the two synchronized. And all plugins work fine, no need to wake up creators for new versions.

The design, MSUC 2008 & WordPress 2.5

Thursday, April 3rd, 2008

Yup, yet again I haven’t been able to work on the design, I’ve got a relationship, high school and a drivers’ license to work with, but I’ve sprinkled some work on the design too. It’s coming along just fine, a bit slow though.

And Epic Games has just announced that they’ll be holding another Make Something Unreal Contest, for UT3 this time! Now, every modder, artist, mapper or whatever your craft is, go and Make Something Unreal! I think I’ll be better off staying with levels, so let’s hope I get something done—and during this year if possible.

Also, WP2.5 has made a stable release. Be sure to upgrade your install as soon as possible. After I’ve upgraded rdegree, I’ll share my experiences, if I get any.

Rdegree design — going for the word ‘done’

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

Yup, I’ve got the basic layout, graphics, and such done. Some functionality testing, plugin evaluating and styling left. Of course a code clean-up too. But after uploading, it doesn’t mean it’s “done”, I’ll most probably be updating it as time passes, until I get too bored of it. I don’t like giving out exact “release dates”, but let’s hope I’ll get the design uploaded during next week.

Building the rdegree About page

Friday, March 21st, 2008

I’m bad at telling about myself, or things related to me (unless the amount of alcohol in my blood stream is above a certain amount), so I need some help creating my about page. I was thinking of making it sort of a “Q&A” page, about this blog and me. Without any longer babbling, you can now post questions about me and rdegree to this post (yes, the comment area). Anything is allowed, except the you-know-what things. If the question is good, or a certain question is asked enough, it will be answered on the about page.

The design of rdegree

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

The design is coming along nicely, no worries about that. Just posted to inform everyone that I’ve gotten to the so called coding stage a few days back. This takes a while still, as the WordPress templates and their tags confuse me a bit*. And added to that, I need to style some plugins too. Otherwise things are pretty straightforward.

Thanks for your time.

* I’m trying to make the design work quite damn dynamically, so the use of WordPress templates and tags is needed.

Rdegree, prelaunch is here

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Well well, this is it. Rdegree has semi-officially launched, at least until I get the blog fully running.

My checklist includes a design (duh), various functionalities (such as plugins and personal code additions) and general work on the site. Until I’ve decided to officially launch and go yelling on about rdegree, you, the (to-be) reader can support me by sending in suggestions and advice. Everything is appreciated.

I will be posting updates and random ramblings every now and then.

For more information about rdegree and me, be sure to check out the About page.
